The Cremona Piano Trio promises to be an exciting appearance on the British stage, equipped equally as they are with individual excellence and group synergy. This new collaboration began taking shape in 2011, with their first performance taking place in September 2011; Elaine Paine: “We were completely blown away by the concert - The Cremona Trio are a real discovery; we were thrilled with their beautiful sound - commanding right from the first bars and sustained through all the rest of their performance.  At the end, we wanted them to play the whole concert again, there and then." This ability to engage and thrill audiences was shown once again in early 2012 when, despite having only been working together for a few months, they won the Audience Prize at the St. Martin-in-the-Fields Chamber Music Competition.

The trio have already played to leading chamber musicians such as David Waterman, Simon Roland-Jones, Richard Ireland and Leos Cepicky at the King’s Place Chamber Studio Masterclasses, and more recently 'cellist Oleg Kogan. Focusing on a broad study of the trio repertoire, the ensemble is championing new music by contemporary composers such as Nicolas Bacri as well as bringing fresh insight into the core Classical and Romantic repertoire.

The three young artists - John Paul Ekins, Michal Cwizewicz and Liubov Ulybysheva - have all been scholars and prize-winners at the The Guildhall School of Music & Drama, The Royal College of Music, and The Royal Academy of Music respectively.  Having completed their studies, they all continue to perform as soloists and within a number of other chamber groups, bringing their wealth of experience into this new ensemble.

The Cremona Piano Trio also builds on two existing duo partnerships between its members; since 2007, the Atma Duo (consisting of violinist Michal Cwizewicz and pianist John Paul Ekins) have been performing regularly across the UK and more recently in Europe and as far afield as Kuwait. "Their playing was assured, dazzling and highly sensitive in turns. The duo's partnership was here shown at its best in a wonderfully committed performance." Warminster Journal & Wiltshire Times.  Elsewhere, Michal Cwizewicz first worked with 'cellist Liubov Ulybysheva in performances of the Brahms Double Concerto with Epsom and Guildford Symphony Orchestras, which were described as "beautiful examples of musical interplay...throughout the work they gave their all in a wonderfully enthusiastic and co-ordinated performance with some exceptional warmth in the slow movement."
